Artist's Description
Night Lit Shoreline uses a number of specialized acrylic techniques to create a moody and evocative seascape scene. impasto techniques using a very large flat knife create the patterns and textures of the night sky just before dark. Dry brush painting was used to enhance and harmonize the palette knife patterns in the sky. The sea was created using extrusion and patterned pouring techniques to create glassy three dimensional effects in the paint and complex three dimensional lines protruding from the surface.
Glass lenses, retroreflective beads and light manipulating mica create active responsive qualities, allowing the painting to react to the ambient light. These elements also add texture and help pattenr the painting.
