A forest landscape evocative of the edge of a serene and graceful garden and the beginning of a mysterious woods.
The painting style is somewhat non-traditional, starting from directed and purposeful spatters of loose paint, which was allowed to run down the canvas. The canvas was turnbed while drying to change the direction of the paint rivulets. Several layers of color and detail were built up in this manner, with the splatter positions, color, thickness and "run direction" used to slowly build the impression of tree trunks and leaves. This "lean" layer was allowed to dry.
Next details and areas of color were filled in through more traditional brush painting, using the background suggestion of branches and tree trunks as a starting point.
A "fat" layer of impasto textured foreground trees was added last, along with blossoms and details within the leaves
