Artist's Description
The title of "Coriolis 3" refers to the Coriolis effect and its role in wind patterns and storm formation. Coriolis 3 is my third exploration of a painting based on a swirling spiral. In each of the Coriolis paintings, different combinations of extruded ribbon-like three dimensional forms are combined with glassy poured media. Color diffused and swirled into wet liquid media creates complex patterns that resemble fluid instabilities or smoke patterns. As the liquid and gel media dry they develop a glass-like clarity and transparency. The patterns created by swirled and diffusing paint are captured within the clear glassy film.
