Alien Microbes is a colorful sciart piece that could also be considered science fiction, depending on one's views of alien biota. The overall composition was inspired by Early 20th Century such as Kandinsky and Mid Century Modern abstract artists such as Vaserely. There is some purely Contemporary digital in the mix as well. The digital painting used an image of a complex and finely detailed ink on paper drawing as a starting point. The image layers, color map and other features were manipulated and composited to achieve the final piece.
