Description
Digital painting using an ink drawing as a launching point.
Transparent layers patterns of rings and alien color mapping create the impression of overlapping waves.
I often think about how the “microscopic” picture of a phenomenon (usually nano or picoscopic) connects to the visible world bulk experience of that phenomena. In this case there are wave fronts in the image, created using different types of shaded fills. Waves are created by something varying – density of molecules and pressure or acoustic waves, electromagnetic fields and light waves, or actual molecules or objects just rhythmically moving. Often compex and messy phenomena at small scale – up close – statistically smooth out into a very sensible bulk picture – sort of like these patterns and waves, intersections and wavefronts.
