a 12 x 12 inch acrylic seascape in a slightly abstracted style. Detailed realist style painting techniques were replaced with creative and careful use of media to simulate the light, reflection, water transparency, sparkle of sand and other properties of the sea. The effect is very different and much more immediate than a flat painted picture. Large spherical pieces of glass build up three dimensional texture in the breaking waves. They also act as lenses casting light patterns into the transparent acrylic sea. Mica forms the shoreline and provides both texture and light manipulating movement.
