Title
Heterotroph Hypothesis
Artist
Regina Valluzzi
Medium
Painting - Acrylic On Canvas
Description
The heterotroph hypothesis suggests that the first life forms to emerge from the primordial soup did not make their own nutrients through photosynthesis. These early heterotrophs consumed the nutrient matter that already existed in the biochemical soup from which they arose. Over time as the soup became thin and watery, photosynthesizing autotrophs began to appear and gain a foothold. The original painting is fairly complex, constructed using a series of transparent overlapping layers and 3-d relief from extruded media.
