Description
Not a digital. Original is roughly 4" by 3.5" on drawing vellum. Different sized nibs of black Micron Pigma, pigment ink felt tip pens were used to draw this.
Epitaxy is a process where crystals of one type form on top of another type. Crystallization is epitaxial when there is a particular reproducible orientation between the atomic (or molecular) symmetries of the two crystal types. Usually this happens when an exposed face of the first crystal has an arrangement of atoms that closely matches an arrangement needed by the second crystal type in order to grow crystals.
Epitaxial crystallites often look like sheaves or arrays of spikes growing out of other crystallites at patterned angles.
