Bad hair days - everybody has them. The bad hair days involving alien brain sucking octopi are definitely the worst. Those things are just so darn hard to comb through.
This is from a rough black and white ink sketch, basically a doodle. the ink sketch was scanned into digital form and color levels were shrunk for sharp contract between the lines and background to eliminate paper texture and smudges. The white areas were rendered transparent and several additional layers were added to tweak the drawing and add color detail and shading. The layers were also very helpful in creating the intertwined and tangled hair and tentacles
