Abstract Paintings - Art

Visit my website! Files suitable for high resolution prints. Abstract paintings using strong geometric patterns of color and form to create order and space. Many of these are explorations of color using patterns of regular shapes to create rhythm and organize space on the canvas. They are a little bit reminiscent of circuitry, or machinery. My daily environment has been populated by highly machined complex instruments for most of my life. I've always been as fascinated by the innards and workings of these instruments as I am by their use. I believe this fascination carries over into painting. The placement of colored areas is loosely based on a set of rules (more fuzzy logic than Turing). Often these rules derive from technical problems that I'm working on. The perception of an object or subject in sharp relief floating above a background is a common visual theme in much of technical imaging. I've always used Art as a way to keep a technical problem in my head while at the same time stepping back from it.
